Government warns public from 6 common summer diseases
MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The government cautioned today the public from the six common diseases or conditions that can adversely affect one's health during this summer season.
Department of Health Secretary Janette Garin said that this year, the Holy Week signals the start of summer vacation activities.
"We are urging the public to keep themselves healthy and fit in the midst of their business," she said.
She cited the six common summer diseases that the people should be cautious about. These include sore eyes, sunburn, cough and colds, vomiting and diarrhea, skin diseases, and dog bites.
Tens of thousands of Filipinos are expected to flock in the provinces this week to spend their Lenten break there.
The Holy Week in Philippines starts on this Thursday to Saturday in 2015.
