Lawyer insists Jolo did not commit suicide
MANILA, Philippines - The current condition of Cavite Vice Gov. Ramon "Jolo" Revilla III is not improving, according to the Revilla family's lawyer Raymond Fortun.
"His condition is definitely not improving but more to be specific, he is deteriorating," Fortun told members of the press on Tuesday afternoon.
Fortun noted that 800 cubic centimeters of blood have already been extracted from the Cavite Vice Governor since he was rushed to the hospital last Saturday for accidentally inflicting a gunshot wound on himself.
"The body is trying to cope but in effect there will always be the possibility of infection arising and some other parts of the body now reacting as well," Fortun said.
According to Fortun, the young Revilla acquired a pneumonial infection in his left lung due to the gunshot wound. He has also developed abdominal distension or swelling of the abdomen.
Fortun reiterated that the younger Revilla did not commit suicide.
"We are consistent with our earlier statement that this was an accidental discharge," Fortun said.
Meanwhile, the Sandiganbayan allowed Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. to visit his son Jolo at the hospital from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Father and son were emotional as they saw each other.
The younger Revilla apologized to his father, according to Fortun.
"It's alright anak, we have to be strong," Sen. Revilla told his son.
The lawyer of the Revilla family admitted that the senator might file a motion tomorrow morning to allow the senator to visit his son again for a longer time.
The senator is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center for graft and plunder charges in connection his alleged involvement in the P10 billion pork barrel fund scam.
