Alleged Binay dummy faces tax evasion charges

MANILA, Philippines - Chinese-Filipino businessman Antonio "Tony" Tiu, the alleged dummy of Vice President Jejomar Binay, is facing tax evasion charges from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
The BIR filed a P73.74 million tax evasion case against Tiu on Thursday.
According to BIR Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares, Tiu failed to properly declare his income for 2008 while he failed to submit his Income Tax Return in 2013.

BIR investigation showed that Tiu invested P53.5 million shares of stock in companies Agrinurture Incorporated and Tiu Peck and Sons Holding Incorporated in 2008. Tiu only declared an income of P800,000 during the said year.
The confidential businessman claimed ownership of the alleged Binay property in Rosario, Batangas.
Tiu failed to show proof that he is the owner of the said property during the Senate Blue Ribbon Sub-Committee hearing last October.
