House considering solar panel installation
MANILA, Philippines - The House of Representatives may install solar panels as renewable energy sources for the chamber, House Speaker Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte told reporters on Wednesday.
“Green energy is a terrific thing and the logical thing to do,” he said.
The House Speaker's statement came after attending the launch of the largest solar rooftop installation in the country at SM City North EDSA last Monday.

Belmonte noted that the country will soon undertake the use of renewable energy sources and urged other business establishments and government agencies to consider alternative energy sources.
“They should visit SM and see for themselves the system. I was assured that people could view it for free. I myself am considering of installing a solar panel system in my residence,” the House Speaker said.
SM City North EDSA's multi-level parking building contains 5,760 solar panels expected to generate 5 percent of the mall's daily energy consumption.
The House Speaker added that he would discuss the matter of installing a similar system in the chamber with the House leadership.
