Widow charged in Enzo slay

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Slain car racer Enzo Pastor’s widow is now a “person of interest” and there is an immigration lookout bulletin for her after she was charged yesterday for the murder of her husband.

Dahlia Pastor, who remains at large, was charged with parricide before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Her alleged lover, businessman Domingo de Guzman III, and self-confessed gunman Police Officer 2 Edgar Angel were charged with murder. They were also charge with frustrated murder since Pastor’s assistant, Paolo Salazar, was wounded in the attack last June 12.

The complaint filed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) alleged that Dahlia conspired with De Guzman, the reported mastermind, in plotting the killing.

Citing information from the Bureau of Immigration (BI), Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said Dahlia is still in the country.

BI spokesperson Elaine Tan said while they will not bar Dahlia from traveling, the bureau will monitor her movements.

She added that they are coordinating with the PNP on the spelling of the widow’s name. Some reports spell her name as Dalia, Tan said.

BI Commissioner Siegfred Mison said travel records show that the person with the name Dalia Guerrero Pastor, born Sept. 15, 1985, is still in the country.

Tan said they are not 100-percent sure if the name Dalia Guerrero Pastor is the person the authorities are looking for, but it is “the closest spelling of her name that we have in our database. That is why we included the date of her birth.”

Lawyer Salvador Panelo, who represents the Pastor family, said they hope the charge against Dahlia was not true “for the sake of the children. They are deferring to the expertise and knowledge of the investigators and they will abide by whatever findings and accept them.”

Pastor’s parents also attended the filing and the inquest proceedings.

His father Tomas said they were satisfied with the way authorities handled his son’s case.

“The big development in our case happened after they (police) caught the gunman,” he told reporters.

De Lima said the National Bureau of Investigation, which conducted a parallel probe, supported the findings of the PNP that the murder had something to do with a “love triangle” involving Pastor, Dahlia and De Guzman. – With Edu Punay
