The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday said it will provide support to the Philippine National Police in securing President Aquino during his Fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.

AFP spokesperson Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said at least 400 officers and enlisted personnel from the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region will be deployed for the SONA.

Zagala said the 400 soldiers include medical personnel, bomb experts, K-9 and crowd dispersal management units.

"All of these will be placed under the disposal of the PNP National Capital Region Police Office," he said.

The Philippine National Police said at least 10,000 officers will be deployed for the SONA next week.
