2 killed, 2 wounded in armed clash in Surigao

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Two police officers were wounded as Philippine security forces clashed with leftist rebel group of New People's Army this afternoon in Surigao del Norte, the military said.
The firefight began when about 60 NPA rebels attacked Alegria municipal police station in Surigao del Norte at 3 p.m. Thursday, said Joe Patrick Martinez, an officer of the Army's 402nd Brigade.
The clash, which lasted for half an hour, also led to the death of two NPA rebels, he said.
