Metrobank execs visit rehabilitation sites in Palo

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Senior officers of the Metrobank Group recently met with community stakeholders in Palo, Leyte where its rehabilitation projects are being constructed.

Out of 24 classrooms and three birthing health stations that are being built in Leyte and Samar, Metrobank Group is looking to inaugurate 17 classrooms with basic equipment and one barangay health station with birthing facility in Palo in June 2015 through its partnership with Plan International Philippines.

“We have always been inspired by the dedication and optimism of the residents and leaders of Palo. We are honored to serve as God’s instrument to help rebuild these vital facilities as part of our long-term commitment to redevelop the areas affected by typhoon Yolanda”, said Aniceto Sobrepeña, Metrobank Foundation president and executive director of GT-Metro Foundation.

Local stakeholders, including the Palo National High School principal and the municipal health staff, shared their plans and thanked the visiting executives for their support and presence.

Aside from classrooms and barangay health stations, the Metrobank Group and GT-Capital Holdings also supported various reconstruction efforts in Palo, Leyte. Its support includes a P5-million donation for the restoration of the main sanctuary of the severely-damaged Palo Cathedral of Transfiguration and a grant for the reconstruction of the San Joaquin Parish.
