Valentine wedding for Heart and Chiz?

When engaged couple Heart Evangelista and Sen. Chiz Escudero were asked in an interview with Startalk last Saturday when their wedding would be…on Valentine’s Day next year (Feb. 14)?...Chiz answered, “It would be a triple celebration,” the date being Heart’s birthday, “her birthday, Valentine’s Day and wedding anniversary, para isa na lang ang gift.”

A week after Chiz proposed to Heart on his knees with a heart-shaped ring (value not revealed) at the Escudero home in Sorsogon City, Heart is still on Cloud 9 even if she felt sad that her parents were not there (although her father congratulated and wished her well in a text message).

Heart confirmed that her estranged mom also gave her her blessing, thus bridging the two-year gap between them. Which meant that Heart’s mom must have gotten over her disapproval of Chiz.

“We are not yet 100 percent okay but I’m happy with the development,” confessed Heart who met up with her mom and her sister Mich a day after the proposal, then posted a picture of the three of them on her Instagram. Wiping tears, Heart said that she would understand if her parents wouldn’t attend the wedding, although she would hope and pray that they would. “It would be a sad/happy day for me but I wish it would be altogether happy.”

Would her dad (with whom Heart has actually reunited a few weeks ago on his birthday) surprise her by agreeing to give her away?

“I wish!,” said Heart. “But if he would not, I would walk by myself because nobody can replace him to give me away,” adding, “my mom and dad raised me well. Someday they will realize that I made the right choice,” that she’s marrying her crush, “the man of my dreams.”

Incidentally, during the proposal, Chiz first slipped the ring on the wrong finger, and Heart made fun of it.

“It’s the second time he was doing it at nagkamali pa siya,” referring to Chiz’s first proposal to a woman he would marry and eventually separated from (the marriage was annulled by both the state and the church very recently, and that signaled Chiz to go ahead with his long-pending, much-awaited proposal).

According to Heart, the heart-shaped ring is not a family heirloom from Chiz’s mom but only a replica of it.

“Unknown to me,” revealed Heart, “Chiz ‘stole’ one of my rings para makuha ang sukat ng finger ko, and he had the ring patterned after that of his mom’s.”

Toward the end of the Startalk exclusive, Chiz tried to humor Heart by saying, “Maski hindi ako magaling umarte, kumanta at sumayaw,” obviously referring to Heart’s ex-boyfriend Jericho Rosales (now happily married to Kim Jones), “at maski hindi ako kasing guwapo at kasing-macho ni…” referring to Heart’s other ex-boyfriend, the Brapanese who has just won P1M as Pinoy Big Brother(PBB) champ, with Heart finishing the sentence for him with a big smile, “…ni Matsunaga!”

They had a good laugh and then, addressing Heart’s parents, Chiz said, “Aalagaan ko si Heart kahit anong mangyari.”
