Rama still undecided on LCP presidency bid

CEBU, Philippines - With the League of Cities in the Philippines (LCP) election due in less than two weeks, Cebu City second-termer Mayor Michael Rama has yet to finalize his decision on whether he will run for president.

Rama told reporters that he is still weighing things and ask the public to just wait for his decision.

“Abangan nalang unsay mahitabo. Tutal, July 19 pa man ang election,” he said.

He added that he has not finished consulting fellow mayors on his planned bid.

“I still have to call people from Lakas, NPC and others,” the mayor continued.

Should circumstances present unfavorable setup, he said he is always willing to yield to the decision of the majority especially with his United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) affiliates and top officials.

“I am a very practical public servant. The most important thing is, I am willing to serve,” Rama explained.

The support of UNA chairman Vice President Jejomar Binay and even President Benigno Aquino III himself is important because he believes that despite being a Liberal Party official, Aquino will likely support the same bet for LCP presidency as the one backed by Binay.

“I am always not a spoiler. When the interest of the country is in demand, then my loyalty to my party ends because I will yield to public interest. — (FREEMAN)
