Cycle of hurt

Nothing hazy about hazing. Following the recent death of a law student after a night of being welcomed into a fraternity, members of a well-known fraternity assured they never haze their members using pain, only make them do a lot of physical activity to make sure they sweat.

However, one of them later told The Ear that this announcement was only for propaganda. The frat member said all fraternities, with no exceptions, use pain in one way or another as part of the welcoming "ritual". These fraternities will, of course, deny it is hazing, but it is practically the same thing.

He said the cycle cannot end easily; those who experienced pain upon initiation will never feel satisfied until they themselves inflict pain on newer members of the fraternity.
