Military-style rehab

THE EAR - The Freeman

Won’t surrender. A mother of a drug user said her son, who had surrendered to the barangay in his town, threatened not to undergo rehabilitation  if the authorities will force him to march, on orders of the military, under the heat of the sun.

Marching. “Nakadungog akong anak nga adto sila i-rehab sa military camps. Gikuyawan siya basin kuno pamartsahon ilawom sa init sa adlaw (My son has heard the rehabilitation will be conducted inside military camps. He is afraid he will be forced to march under the heat of the sun),” this mother said. “Wala nalang unta nang martsa-martsa (They should not include marching),” she quoted her son as saying.

Patriotism. But according to this mother, her cousin policeman did not stop from encouraging her son to undergo rehabilitation if ever the national government wants it to be conducted in military camps. “Okay man kaayo ang giingon sa akong cousin nga police kay mo-instill man daw og discipline and patriotism ang rehab sa military camps. (My cousin, a police officer, told me that rehab in military camps will instill discipline and patriotism).”
