Split up overa word: PRONUNCIATION

THE EAR - The Freeman

Would you believe that because of a disagreement over the right pronunciation of one little word, sweethearts in college split up? This happened only last month in a local university campus during a culinary class party.

CHEF. The word of contention was CHEF.  The boyfriend pronounced CHEF, the French word for cook, as CHEF as in chief of police. "Wrong lagi na," the girlfriend said. The correct pronunciation, she said, was SHEF. And she kept pronouncing it that way during the party. But the boyfriend also kept pronouncing it CHIEF. "Ka wa nimoy class... Pakauwaw ka lang," the GF said. The BF felt bad and left the party. The Ear informer was trying to find out if there was a reconciliation
