Filipino restaurant included among 'best new restaurants in US'
MANILA, Philippines – It's always a good day to be a proud Pinoy.
A Filipino restaurant based in Washington, DC ranked second in Bon Appétit magazine’s annual "America’s Best New Restaurants list," making them the first and only Filipino restaurant to be included on the list.
The restaurant, which serves the Pinoy delicacies ukoy and kinilaw na hipon and local liqueur lambanog, is owned by Filipino-American chef Tom Cunanan, Genevieve Villamora and Nick Pimentel.
Bon Appétit deputy editor Andrew Knowlton describes their food as something "you just want to keep eating forever."
While the restaurant, which opened its doors in Columbia Heights in September last year can only accommodate 25 people at a time and does not accept reservations, the long queue proves otherwise that locals and out-of-towners are willing to wait just to get a bite of their unique flavors.
Bad Saint is located at 3226 11th Street NW Washington DC 20010.
