From foam to food: Pasta with beer hops for health conscious
MANILA, Philippines - The beer you’re drinking might also be on your plate.
Just in case you don’t know yet, hops used to brew beer is rich in vitamins, riboflavin, niacin and zinc. This is why craft breweries have come up with their own innovative ways to maximize its use.
Here in the Philippines, Draft joins the foam to food revolution.
Draft’s executive chef Carlo Miguel said the hops are actually healthy because it constitute as much as 90 percent of a brewery’s total by-product and sugars have already been extracted from it, making it ideal for people who are conscious about what they are eating.
An additional entree to their quarterly specials is the Stracci, a delicious dish of shrimps, fresh chorizo, chili and homemade spent grain Stracci pasta, tossed in butter, parmesan and herbs.
Aside from Stracci, chef Carlo Miguel has also added chicken pie, meat pie and triple threat sandwich on their specials.
Draft Gastropub is run by The Distillery Group, which was the first to pioneer and introduce European-inspired gastropubs in Manila specializing in high quality comfort food served in a pub setting.
Guests looking for an authentic pub experience need only to get a table at Draft where the atmosphere is chill, the beer is plenty, and the food exceptionally good.
