Study: Filipino women have the smallest breast size in the world

Breast sizes of women around the world have become a subject of common interest. MANILA, Philippines - A study recently published in The Journal of Female Health Sciences revealed that Filipino women have the smallest breast size in the world.

Comparing the factual breast size of almost 400,000 women aged 28 to 30 years old, among 108 countries, results showed that the U.S. by far has larger breasts, while women born in Africa and Asia, particularly in the East Asian countries, have the smallest breast volumes.

To conduct breast volume analysis, data gathered from companies representing the demography of the subjects were collected and sizes were converted to a comparable format for standardization. In addition, the final volume analysis was also expressed as a bra cup size using the EU bra size standard as reference.

Factual breast size means the breast volume and breast tissue volume were measured as the study also assumed that not all women wear the right size of bra and measuring tape is not reliable enough to determine factual breast size of women.

"A typical Caucasian woman born in the U.S.A. has a breast volume of 1,668 ml and the highest quartile of Caucasian U.S. women has a mean breast volume as high as 2,986 ml," the study said.

"In the Philippines, the mean breast volume is only 111 ml and even the highest quartile of Filipino women has a mean breast volume of only 179 ml," it added.

Aside from the Philippines, the study also revealed that women from Malaysia, Bangladesh, Samoa and Solomon also have small breast volumes while women from the United States, Canada, Ireland, Poland and U.K. joined U.S.A. at the top of the list.

Breasts have long been used as an object of attraction and the focus of visual attention, which is why the breast size of women around the world has been a subject of common interest.

The study however emphasized that the purpose of the study is not to focus on breasts as a significant female sexual characteristic, but rather on the geographic variation of breast size for clothing purposes such as lingerie. - Alixandra Caole Vila
