An Inno Sotto wedding
Sweet and accomplished Michelle Torres Carlos met handsome Atenean businessman Allan Azores Tanchiong five years ago in her sister’s birthday party.
Ever since she was a child, Mitch always wanted to be a doctor and pursued her medical studies in New York, while Allan had to attend to his business in Manila. It was a beautiful courtship that would put any romantic movie to shame with the future groom following and surprising his love with a grand proposal on top of New York’s Empire State Building.
The wedding reception held at the Manila Polo Club was filled with family and friends personally handpicked by the couple. Everyone who attended held a special meaning to them — from their respective classmates to the business associates and a choice selection of their parents’ guests. One could feel the love and affection for the couple as only familiar faces were present to witness a loving union that started with the newly married couple dancing the fox trot to their guests’ delight.
Inno Sotto’s bridal gown was a vision of elegant chic and reminded me of Audrey Hepburn’s understated flair. The boat neckline with a heavily beaded top and a rich Duchesse satin skirt suited Mitch and brought out her delicate bone structure.

Smart Infinity partnered with RJ Jacinto to present a trio of youthful talents for an exclusive group of clients and guests at The Peninsula’s Salon de Ning. Despite some negative vibes from an egoistic staffer who should realize that having a positive attitude is better than being negative, the evening turned out to be a success. The Infinity prizes compliments of the efficient duo of Julie Carceller and Marga Cobarrubias proved to be a crowd favorite, too. The sold-out show featured a unique musical experience that included the popular Bea Tantoco, Musical whiz Michael Chan and Christopher Yu; all scions of RJ’s close friends. The packed house listened, sung along and danced to songs from various generations and proved that music transcends time.

US Ambassador Harry Thomas is one of the most well-liked diplomats in town, often surprising new found friends by speaking in the vernacular and is Jesuit educated from the College of the Holy Cross (one of the oldest Catholic schools in the USA). I noticed that everywhere he goes, people approach him for a photograph and he gladly obliges with a ready smile. He is one diplomat that shows American-Filipino friendship at its best.
The get together for a mini dance party was held in his residence and had the best music that included almost all dance steps — from boogie to swing to hip-hop and the two-step. It was a great way to lose some calories that we all need to get rid of.
