The new nude: How to get holiday’s biggest fashion, beauty trend

MANILA, Philippines — From the Star Magic Ball to the recently concluded Fashion Weeks in New York, London, and Paris, fashion and beauty trends have spoken: ‘Tis the season to go nude!

May it be on the runway or the red carpet, more and more celebrities have been wearing day makeup for a night engagement because it feels feminine, fresh and comfortable.

Here are some ways how you can also achieve a natural day-to-night look.

For the holidays, the trend is to wear a lipstick close to your natural lip color, but one that also enhances your lips.

It is time to ditch those white-washed nude lippie looks, and replace them with the complexion-flattering nude shades that flawlessly hug your lips.

Maybelline’s Color Sensational Inti-Matte Nudes are designed to look like one’s lips, but with shades that are said to flatter every Filipina complexion. The line aims to feel like one’s second skin with its warm and golden undertones. Its matte pigments and moisturizing formula aims to give lips an effortless sophisticated look.

Likewise, makeup brand Avon’s Perfectly Matte Lipstick line reportedly has 100 percent matte finish. It comes in 20 shades, including eight new nude shades, endorsed by Marian Rivera and Angel Locsin in a new TV commercial. Angel loves Red Supreme, while Marian adores Rose Awakening, a vibrant rose nude color.

From lipsticks, the nude trend has extended to eye makeup.

For effortless and easy-to-apply eye makeup, L’Oreal Paris offers Infallible 24H Gel Crayon, a smudge-proof, waterproof eyeliner that can arguably last for up to 24 hours. It comes in two shades – black for intense look, and gray for a more natural look mirroring the shadows under the eyes.

The band has also made creating a smoky eye easier with Color Riche Easy Smoky, a two-in-one crayon, so you do not have to switch in between brushes. It comes in five shades, from mocha to coffee, graphite, and satin shades, which are “blendable” to create more depth.

For the eyebrows, the label boasts of Brow Artist Pro, a three-in-one pencil, brow powder and brow brush in new shades: black, brown, burgundy and gray.

Taking inspiration from the of-the-moment trends that breeze through the doors of the iconic Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles, the Cover Shot Eye Palettes offer a punch of color in a single swipe. Each pocket-sized palette houses six high-pigment colors and two base shades that blend easily.

Ablaze contains incandescent reds and browns inspired by the sear and scorch of the desert.
