L’Occitane’s sunrise in a bottle
L’Occitane Terre de Lumière L’Eau EDT, Body Lotion, Shower Gel, Radiant Balm and Perfumed Soap, available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source in November
What does dawn in Provence smell like? According to L’Occitance’s latest fragrance collection, it smells brilliant, tender and slow to bloom. The new fragrance, Terre De Lumière, has base notes of acacia flower, bitter almond essence, tonka bean and white musk. At its heart is the pink peony, leading to head notes of bergamont, pink pepper and blackcurrant. It was created by a trio of female perfumers from Grasse, Calice Becker, Shyamala Maisondieu and Nadege Le Garlantezec, inspired by memories of dawn in Provence.
The Terre de Lumière L’Eau collection includes the Terre de Lumière Gentle Shower Gel in 250ml and 50ml, Beautifying Body Milk, Beautifying Body Lotion, Radiant Balm and Perfumed Soap.
Each product in the collection comes in a delicate pink and gold packaging, marked with the rays of the rising sun. They would make excellent gifts, whether purchased individually or together.
“L’Occitane has a very gifty image. Everybody loves to receive a gift hamper from L’Occitane. It’s something that we take a lot of pride in,” said André Joseph Hoffman, executive director, vice-chairman and managing director of L’Occitane. For the upcoming holidays, L’Occitane will be coming out with a limited-edition collection. “New products in new packaging, and this will be launched in the Philippines around November.”
I asked André which L’Occitane products people love getting as gifts (whether for a loved one or for themselves). “L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is our best-seller. Every three seconds, one Shea Butter Hand Cream is sold somewhere in the world. It’s like Coca-Cola!” he said. “Divine Anti-Aging Cream is also a best-seller everywhere. For fragrance, it’s light and citrusy Verbena. For shower oils, the Almond Shower Oil is a delicious product everybody loves. And the best body cream is Almond Milk Concentrate. It’s wonderful.”
If you ask me, I’d like to receive some “bottled sunrise.” Maybe it can take the place of coffee.
