Makeup can last longer if used properly
Dear Lucy,
I have accumulated a lot of makeup over the years, some of them bought at sales abroad. Do makeup products like lipsticks or eye shadows have expiry dates? How do I store my makeup hoard to keep them fresh for use?
Tetch
Officially, it is said that makeup, like most products, has a shelf life. Most people, however, know that if stored properly unopened, and used properly once opened (meaning, you don’t dip dirty brushes or your fingers into it), it can last for years. That said, I think common sense is key. Even before the expiry date, if it smells funky or it irritates your skin, then it’s best to just toss it in the trash bin. Better safe than sorry.
