Fun ways with high-waist jeans

How do I wear high-waist jeans? They are in trend again now, but I am so used to low-waist jeans, I do not quite know how to pull it off.

Yes, it is easy to have fun with high-waist jeans or what the young ones call the “mom jeans”! You can tuck a loose shirt into it, like a slouchy tank that you can then polish off with beautiful heels. Start from there, then play with other options once you’ve gotten used to it.

Truth be told, I am still learning from my daughter the many ways to wear high-waist jeans — these millennials put together their outfits so effortlessly, the way they are so nonchalant about fashion is liberating as it is inspiring!

Look younger with feathery brows

Dear Rissa,

I noticed that there is a trend for fuller, bushy eyebrows—like a feathery look. I’m growing my brows so I can transition to this. How can I achieve this look?

Overdrawn, overprecise, tattoo-looking eyebrows are no longer in style. Feathery brows are the big trend today and they make women look younger, too. Another reason to make the shift? Feathery brows are faster and easier to achieve, too. That means cutting your makeup time in half.

A lot of women have been growing their brows to get the feathery brows look. First rule is to resist touching your brows. Don’t cut or pluck them so you allow them to grow fuller. Some women even go to great lengths by applying hair growth serums so their brows grow faster. All you really need is patience.

In the meantime, the best brow tool is to use a microtip eyebrow pencil. After brushing brows with a spoolie, use the microtip eyebrow pencil to draw fine, individual hair strands. Then finish off by using a brow mascara. Sweep it from the roots fanning outwards. But remember, less is more, so don’t overdo it. Too much brow mascara might weigh hair down and make the brows look flat instead of full. This look is easy to achieve, can be worn day to night, and gives a more youthful look.
