How to make eye makeup last longer

STYLE S.O.S. - The Philippine Star

Dear Rissa,

I have oily skin and my makeup doesn’t last long and easily fades—most especially my eye makeup. I’m thinking of using an eye primer, but I’m looking for an all-natural one. Please help me find one.

Cris

When it comes to natural or vegan products, Healthy Options is actually a hidden gem for amazing yet effective beauty finds. Yes, they offer a lot of beauty products for both the environmentally- and health-conscious.  I stumbled upon a cosmetic brand called Gabriel, an American brand that has been a leader in natural cosmetics for almost 25 years now. The brand is 100-percent vegan and cruelty-free, makes use of 100-percent natural ingredients, and is also certified gluten-free. To lessen their carbon footprint, Gabriel Cosmetics uses recycled packaging and supports a sustainable environment through partnerships with non-profit organizations.

Check out the Gabriel Cosmetics Eye Primer at Healthy Options. It’s a gluten-free eye primer that allows eyeshadows and eyeliners to stay true to color, looking vibrant and freshly applied from morning till night. Simply apply this on the lids before applying eye makeup to prime the lids and make them smooth and even.

Since using natural products is a must for you, they also offer a gluten-free lip primer, which smoothens and primes lips for long-lasting color that won’t fade or feather. It keeps lips soft and supple, too, thanks to vitamin E.

How To Do ‘Strobing’ Right

Dear Lucy

What is the difference between strobing and contouring? Do they go together or can I just do one or the other??

Jennifer?

Personally, I think contouring takes more of an effort. It’s like going through the whole nine yards of dressing up, face version, and it’s something that must be done with careful execution because there can be telltale marks.

Strobing is more forgiving as it is basically contouring without shading or simply put, highlighting gently — something that can be easily done daily. It involves using your favorite illuminizer and applying it to the high points of the face — cheekbones, brow bone, Cupid’s bow. The idea is to mimic the natural radiance you get after a great workout. Two things to remember though: strobing should not look greasy, and you must pick the right highlighter shade for your skin tone (fair skin/ivory or pearl), olive skin (rosy nude), dark skin (gold undertones). Apply in layers. Remember, you are going for a fresh gleam/sheen, not a greasy shimmer.

My favorite highlighter is the selection from Hourglass. Check it out.
