Shopping for clothes doesn’t have to be a chore

STYLE S.O.S. - The Philippine Star

Dear Rissa,

I’m looking for investment pieces that don’t cost an arm and a leg. Can you suggest a hassle-free but figure-flattering wardrobe for a career woman with kids like me? I also want to add staples to my wardrobe, which don’t look so ordinary and typical. Please recommend where I can shop.

Karen

For the modern woman, dressing up doesn’t need to be a chore. When you have a wardrobe that works well for you, you spend less time choosing and caring for your clothes and you can instead focus on more important maters — like your career and your family.

With the everyday traffic and limited time, I’ve been resorting to shopping online. Was really excited to come across a chic clothing brand called Christiana Manila. This homegrown brand features clothes that spell easy elegance, are figure-flattering, exude style, and command attention. Even with the influx of imported fast-fashion brands, I appreciate that they are made locally as this guarantees close monitoring of quality.

I love the effortlessly chic shirts with crisp collars. The big rolled-up sleeves lend a casual elegance but are intelligently constructed to also cover the armholes so modesty isn’t compromised. Their designs also feature feminine knotted fabrics that conceal flaws yet hug curves in the right places. I like their keen attention to detail. I have several blouses from Christiana Manila that have worked for me when I don’t know what to wear. They go well with virtually everything in my wardrobe. With their reasonably priced pieces, this brand really gives you wardrobe mileage.

All-natural remedy: Apple cider vinegar works well on rashes.

An Apple (Cider) A Day Keeps Rashes Away

Dear Lucy,

I have really sensitive skin and I sometimes get rashes on my arms. I don’t want to be dependent on chemicals, I want an all-natural remedy. Would you know of any? I also have pimples. Again, no chemicals, all-natural only, please?

Reena

Apple cider vinegar works well on rashes. In my experience, at least. I developed a rash some time back, an allergic reaction probably to something I ate that did not quite agree with me. I had read somewhere that ACV works well, and so I tried it. I used the Braggs brand, as it was what we had in the kitchen, soaking a cotton pad with it. It bit and stung a bit so I sprayed lightly over it with distilled water to dilute the strength. In a few days, the rash subsided. You can also use lavender oil, but make sure it is pure and of therapeutic grade. Lavender oil is gentle on the skin, but it has wonderful antiseptic properties. It even works on acne and eczema. Tea tree oil is also good for pimples, but make sure you dilute with a carrier oil because it can be very strong, especially on sensitive skin.

Hope this helps.

Lucy
