Carbon Dioxide Laser Vs. Warts

Dear Lucy,

This may have been asked before, but I would really like to know how I could get rid of my warts. It started on my face and now, it’s on my neck. A friend of mine who also has warts has them cauterized every so often. Is there a permanent solution for warts? Is there some kind of medication I can apply instead of getting my warts burned so often? Does making beso with a person with warts cause one to get it?

I have heard of ways that warts can be removed naturally, but I do not know the right procedure, and have yet to meet anyone who has successfully gotten rid of warts the natural way. That said, I would gently suggest that you go see your trusted dermatologist. She will assess your skin and will suggest a treatment plan. If you have warts on your face, you may also have some on your neck and body. It is best to have all removed because they easily multiply. If you have a spouse, best for him to have his own warts removed. You can make a couple dare out of it. Warts are a viral infection that is transferred through close skin contact from an infected person (this answers why and how beso-beso is a culprit). Like any virus, it spreads over time and the best treatment is carbon dioxide laser. Different from cauterization, Dr. Guada Capiz of the Belo Medical Group says it is a better option as it is a laser and thus more precise; the scabs are small and healing is really fast.

Keeping your immune system up may ward off warts, but they are so common that having them removed every couple of years may be a must.
