Michael Cinco becomes 1st Pinoy to present in Paris Fashion Week
MANILA, Philippines - Michael Cinco is set to make history as he is poised to become the first Filipino to participate in the Paris Fashion Week.
According to reports, Paris Haute Couture will feature on July 3, the 44-year-old designer's Autumn/Winter '16 collection, which is inspired by the mystifying beauty of nature - from butterflies to flowers.
"Like the butterflies just out of their cocoons, hovering around the flowers in their midst. It is a celebration of uncluttered beauty, of raw elegance and lightness of being, and yet, of not so quiet serenity. It is for women who know their desires and ultimately get them and still thrive on mystery. And yes, like the butterflies and the flowers, it is timeless," he told Gulf News.
His 30-piece show, Couturissimo, will be presented by the Asian Couture Federation (ACF), a non-profit organization that aims to “recognize, nurture and promote Asian couture talents” to a global audience.
Cinco is one of the members of the group.
Presenting in a couture show in Paris and other fashion capitals in the world such as Milan, New York and Tokyo, is a milestone for any designer.
Born in Samar, Cinco earned a fine arts degree at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He also studied in Slim’s Fashion & Art’s School and Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts and Design in London to hone his fashion expertise.
Cinco will join the ranks of Christian Dior and Coco Chanel.
Cinco's celebrity clients include Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Fergie Ferguson, Dita Von Teese, Brandy, Ashanti, Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton, Chris Brown, Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, Paloma Faith and Sofia Vergara. His couture house, which was established in 2013,cater to the richest members of the Arab community.
