Kate Middleton graces cover of Vogue’s centenary edition
MANILA, Philippines - The Duchess of Cambridge is British Vogue's centenary cover girl, and this might be the first time we'll see the highness without her frills.
On Saturday, the fashion magazine revealed the cover of its June edition on social media sites.
The post shows The Duchess in a rural outdoor setting wearing a hat and a blouse layered with jacket. According to the caption, Kate was photographed by famed photographer Josh Olins in Norfolk countryside, located in the northeast of London.
"This was the Duchess’s first sitting for a magazine and she was a joy to work with, a natural," Olins said in a press release.
Another photo shows Kate in a red striped tee from French store Petit Bateau ($105) and navy pants by Burberry, while leaning on a wooden fence. Vogue shared that with some help from Vogue's fashion director Lucinda Chambers and editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman, Kate chose her own wardrobe on the shoot including Britain's Burberry and French maritime-themed label Petit Bateau.
"On the cover and in black and white, Kate wore a a $7,500 charcoal brown double-breasted suede coat and shirt by Burberry, and a wide-brimmed hat from London vintage shop Beyond Retro," People Magazine shared.
Her polished makeup was done by her longtime hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker.
Two of the photos from the shoot are currently displayed at London's National Portrait Gallery as part of an exhibition in May to mark Vogue's 100th anniversary.
The Vogue centenary issue will be on newsstands and available for download from May 5.
