Matching skin color with foundation

STYLE S.O.S. - The Philippine Star

DEAR LUCY,

How do I cover up breakouts in the chin area? I have one or two spots every now and then although the rest of my face is clear. My tendency though is to wear just as much foundation on the rest of my face to balance all that I put on the breakout in my chin. What foundation can I use that is light but can even out my complexion?

How about for days when all I want to wear is blush and lip gloss? What will look natural?

LEONIE

My suggestion would be for you to use concealer only where you need it. One of my favorites still is Youngblood and the key really is to find one that matches your skin color. You pat it on with your ring finger and set with powder. Another really good product would be Happy Skin’s Zit Zapper Second Skin Cream. It is foundation for acne-prone and sensitive skin so even as you fight your zits, you can still look like you have a clear complexion. This product does not clog pores and is especially natural looking on the skin. If you prefer a powder foundation with a second skin texture as well, then I would recommend Chanel’s Vitalumiere Loose Powder Foundation that comes with an adorable mini kabuki brush. This powder has a “blurring effect” that renders a naturally evened-out and smooth-ended effect. It has high definition light pigments that capture and diffuse softer light that is always more flattering for the complexion. And I am glad that you asked about blush because I chanced upon this really beautiful cream blush. Look for Becca Beach Tint Shimmer Souffle. The one I got is in Watermelon/Moonstone. It is a gorgeous blush.               LUCY

Covering up a tattoo

DEAR RISSA,

I’m an aspiring model. Every time I attend castings, I need to cover a tattoo I have on my neck. I’ve tried so many concealers and foundations, but it’s hard to find the right product that can do the job. What kind of product should I look for?

AMY

When it comes to major discolorations on the skin, it’s best to go for a salmon colored corrector. The salmon hue perfectly combats the bluish undertones of your tattoo and gives ultimate covering power to discolorations like extremely dark undereye circles, scars, veins, bruises, and birthmarks. Although a salmon-based corrector can cover up imperfections, make sure to set it with powder for longer staying power.
