Give the gift of wearable cool this Christmas
MANILA, Philippines - Local fashion brands Freeway, Ensembles and Solo put their most-loved special collections — Freeway’s National Artist Collectors’ Series, Ensembles’ Young Designer Series and Solo’s Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia Series under one roof. The latest retail store venture is called Arte Pilipino, a pop-up museum concept store located in Powerplant Mall, Rockwell (former Hobbes and Landes) and Greenbelt 5 (in front of Toys ‘R US). Arte Pilipino blurs the lines between gallery, museum and retail space as it pays tribute to Philippine history, culture and arts.
Freeway’s National Artist Collectors’ Series aims to reintroduce the Philippine arts and culture to the younger generation, making “fashionalism” hip and relevant. People will be seeing the works of Vicente Manansala (visual arts) and Levi Celerio (Music) as well as the brand’s latest collection featuring Botong Francisco (visual arts) in the artist’s 100th anniversary.
Ensembles collaborates with the most celebrated young fashion designers through its Young Designer Series. Now on its fourth installment, Ensembles collaborates with Chris Diaz with its “Romantic Holiday” 2012 collection featuring romantic lace designs and the sexy knit dresses.
Solo celebrates Pinoy pop culture through its Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia Series. It’s a clever showstopper for the young and it arouses nostalgia for those who grew up with the witty and playful Philippine comic characters we all love. The series had featured Larry Alcala’s Slice of Life, Tony Velasquez’s Kenkoy and now on its third year, Tonton Young’s Pupung.
