What keeps Karylle & Yael from having a baby?

What keeps Karylle & Yael from having a baby?

Curtain-raisers:

• After you’ve seen Call Me By Your Name, you’ll never look at a peach the same way again. A front-runner in this year’s Oscars, the movie is packed full with memorable scenes and one of those shows how lead actors Armie Hammer (a dead ringer for Enrique Gil) and Timothee Chalamet do “something” with the peach. Next time you eat a peach, the fruit might never taste the same again (it’s all in your mind, folks!). Another moving scene shows the father (played by Michael Stuhlgard) calmly lecturing Timothee’s character Elio about acceptance, saying in one part, “Nature has cunning ways of finding our weakest spots.”

Gerald Santos (photo) will soon mark his 200th performance as Thuy in Miss Saigon (on tour in the UK) for which he has renewed his contract until March 2019. Miss Saigon is slated for an international tour. Will Manila be included? That’s the big question. Gerald has just shot (in Dubai) the music video for his first song under Star Records.

• Followers of It’s Showtime need not worry about Vice Ganda who has been missing from the show since last week. It won’t take much longer before Vice returns to the show after undergoing surgery on his kidney to remove the stones that have been causing him extreme pain. Don’t worry, guys, because he will be as good as new.

For her own good (and to avoid any misinterpretation), Karylle refrains from talking about her recent chance encounter with her ex-boyfriend Dingdong Dantes and his wife Marian Rivera at the opening of Michael Cinco’s Couturissmo event at the Manila House.

It was Vice Ganda who got so excited about the encounter that he related it on It’s Showtime. According to the story, Karylle and Marian greeted each other…yes, “cordially” -— while Karylle and Dingdong swapped “Hi’s!”

“Actually,” Karylle told Funfare, “I just passed by. I came from a meeting in Greenbelt at sumaglit lang ako sa Manila House to greet my manager Arnold (Vegafria) who was among Michael Cinco’s guests.”

Past is past. It’s been 10 years since Karylle and Dingdong have broken up. Contrary to what some people think, there was a closure between the exes. Dingdong and Marian are living happily ever after (with their daughter Zia), and so are Karylle and Yael Yuzon (they got married in 2014).

Up to now, Karylle and Yael have yet to have a baby. Karylle’s mom Zsa Zsa Padilla told Funfare in a recent interview that she’s excited to be a lola already but she’s not putting any pressure on Karylle.

“Maybe this year,” said Karylle, “hopefully. Let’s hope and pray,” adding that, she and Yael are not into family planning.

On Feb. 14, Karylle will have a Valentine show, Date Night, at Manila House with Kris Lawrence as special guest together with Tawag Ng Tanghalan finalists Froilan Canlas and Charles Kevin Tan. Manila House is exclusive to members but for Karylle’s show, the ticket sale is open to the public.

Sorry but Karylle and Yael can’t celebrate Valentine’s. Yael has his own show in Dubai and then in Batangas. He’s booked until the Chinese New Year.

Bela & Carlo perfect for each other…but only on screen

The two faces of Valetine’s: Bela Padilla and Carlo Aquino in Meet Me in St. Gallen; right: Karylle and husband Yael Yuzon

Check out the two photos of Bela Padilla and Carlo Aquino. They look beautiful together, don’t they? Perfect pairing, isn’t it? Their fans may be wishing that Bela and Carlo get together in real life, especially now that they are both fancy-free. Fans should be content with the couple’s romance in Meet Me in St. Gallen, their first movie together produced by Spring Films and Viva Films, and directed by Irene Villamor (of Camp Sawi fame). The two companies were behind the megahit Kita Kita (that grossed more than P350M).

Inspired by Irene’s 15-page series of conversations (kept on her laptop), the movie is about a musician (Carlo) and a burnt-out millennial (Bela) who run into each other at a coffee shop and spend an entire evening hanging out. They realize they have many things in common so you guess what happens next.

Since her break-up with producer Neil Arce (now romantically linked to Angel Locsin), Bela has been happily working on several projects, the latest being the hit rom-com 100 Tula Para Kay Stella (with JC Santos).

“Wala akong masyadong problem,” she joked during the presscon. “Gas lang.”

Meanwhile, Carlo shrugged off rumors that he and ex-girlfriend Angelica Panganiban (now also single) are getting back together again, denying that he was the “secret” admirer who sent Angelica a bunch of flowers. Carlo and Angelica were boyfriend-girlfriend when they were “tweens” and it is said that they shared “something beautiful.”

(Meet Me in St. Gallen is opening nationwide today.)
