MANILA, Philippines — Nearly a decade after the death of late rap master Francis Magalona, his daughter Maxene Magalona has tied the knot with model-musician Robby Mananquil in a beach wedding in Shangri-La Boracay on January 11.

Despite her father’s absence, Maxene made sure to still pay tribute to him by attaching a picture of the late rapper in a locket in her wedding bouquet, styled by renowned event stylist Teddy Manuel.

“Simple yet meaningful bridal bouquet today for @maxenemagalona. A touch of a locket makes a touching sentiment to share and remember her father on her wedding day,” Manuel, in an Instagram post, said of the concept behind the bouquet.

Saab, Maxene’s sister, also had a locket like that when she got married in 2015. She, however, was unable to attend her sister’s wedding since she is expecting twins and was forbidden by her doctor to travel.

“Today my maid-of-honor gets married and, as her matron-of-honor, I’m so sad that I can’t be with her physically,” Saab said in an Instagram post.

“I really wish I could be there, but with her big and selfless heart, she told me not to worry about it because the safety of my babies is what’s most important. I love you, @maxenemagalona, and I am currently crying buckets from Manila,” said Saab.

Saab still wore her matron-of-honor gown even if she stayed at home during Maxene’s wedding.

Netizens were also touched when Maxene chose her late dad’s hit, “Girl Be Mine,” as her bridal march song.

“It’s so romantic,” some netizens commented on Twitter.

Maxene met Robby through his band, Pulso, which plays with the band of her sister Saab in events. Maxene recalled that one day, Robby just sent her a message online, and from there, they started to connect and fall in love.

“I will love you for a hundred years and more. Because a lifetime is not enough,” the two were quoted as saying as vows in their wedding, attended by celebrities like principal sponsor Gary Valenciano and TV host Tim Yap.

After Maxene’s wedding, netizens are also asking, will her brother and his love team partner, Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador, be the next ones to exchange “I do’s”?
