Daniel Padilla, Angelica Panganiban big winners at FAMAS 2017

MANILA, Philippines — The 65th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards culminated on Thursday night by declaring Daniel Padilla as Best Actor for “Barcelona: A Love Untold" and Angelica Panganiban as Best Actress for "The Unmarried Wife."

Padilla also stars in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2017 entry “Gandarrapiddo! The Revenger Squad,” together with Pia Wurtzbach and Vice Ganda.

In Daniel and Angelica’s respective Instagram and Twitter accounts, fans have bombarded the two with congratulations. Daniel and Angelica might be together in Japan when they were declared winners at FAMAS Awards.

In her latest Instagram post, Angelica showed a group picture that insinuates that she and Daniel are together in Golden Gai, Tokyo, Japan, where they are rumored  to be shooting the upcoming comedy film “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes,” together with Judy Ann Santos

Daniel beat other Best Actor nominees such as Angelica’s co-star in “The Unmarried Wife,” Dingdong Dantes; as well as Joshua Garcia for “Vince, Kath, and James;” Joem Bascon for “Kusina” and Sandino Martin for “Ringgo.”

Angelica, meanwhile, bested other Best Actress nominees such as Daniel’s love team partner Kathryn Bernardo for “Barcelona: A Love Untold;” Angel Locsin for “Everything About Her” and Janice De Belen for “Ringgo.”

Other major awards such as Best Picture went to "Barcelona: A Love Untold," as well as Best Director for the movie’s director, Olivia Lamasan.

Liza Diño also won as Best Supporting Actress for "Ringgo,” while the Best Supporting Actor honor went to Ricky Davao for "Iadya Mo Kami."

Meanwhile, Maine Mendoza and Ivan Dorschner also received the German Moreno Youth Achievement special award.
