Philippines bet is 2017-18 Miss Tourism Int�l

MANILA, Philippines — Mutya ng Pilipinas Jannie Loudette Vicencio Alipo-on (photo, left) was crowned 2017-2018 Miss Tourism International by outgoing titleholder Ariel Pearse of New Zealand on Dec. 6 in Malaysia, besting 47 other beauties worldwide. She also won a corporate award, Miss Gintell Wellness.

Her prizes include a scholarship worth RM60,000 (approximately $14,722) from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, RM10,000 cash, a trophy and sponsors’ gift packages.

Alipo-on, 25, is from Navotas City and is a Tourism Management graduate of De La Salle College of St. Benilde. 

Named runners-up with sub-titles were Maja Aleksandra Siero? of Poland (Miss Tourism Metropolitan International), Diana Hills of Australia (Miss Tourism Global), Lois Merry Tangel of Indonesia (Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International) and Júlia do Vale Horta of Brazil (Dream Girl of the Year). Panghom Kamolrut Tanon of Thailand received the special title of Miss South East Asia Tourism Ambassadress.

It’s the fourth time for the Philippines to win the title, the most number in the 20-year history of Miss Tourism International pageant. The other three Pinay winners were Maria Esperanza Manzano, 2000; Rizzini Alexis Gomez (†), 2012; and Angeli Dione Gomez 2013.
