MANILA, Philippines — On Wednesday, actress and TV host Anne Curtis posted on social media her dismay over an online news report titled “Anne Curtis no time to have a baby.”

In a Twitter post directed to her over 10 million followers, Anne said: “Wow. These people are so harsh. The headline is misleading too. I never said that.”

Anne continued: “Maybe if they read the article they would see what I said was - WE JUST GOT MARRIED, can’t we enjoy that first before making the next big step of becoming parents. It’s our life anyway! Kalerky.”

In the post, Anne included a tweet of a netizen who calls herself “Shealea (needs to) Aral.” Shealea’s post shows screenshots of the article and the comments on it. Shealea wrote in the tweet's the caption: “Today's exciting episode of 'Rape Culture and Misogyny in Facebook Comments':”

In the story published on December 4, Anne was asked when she and husband Erwan Heussaff plan to have a baby and she has been quoted as saying: “Oh my gosh…not yet! We just got married, and so first, we will enjoy married life… For the meantime, I will be looking after the children we have been helping through Unicef.”

Anne is a celebrity ambassador for humanitarian organization United Nations Children’s Fund.

Besides the headline, Shealea’s post cited by Anne shows screenshots of comments Anne could be referring to as “harsh.” The comments were directed toward the article.

One netizen said: “Kung ganyan paniniwala mo sana pagdumating yung panahon na gugustuhin mo na eh di ka na mgkaron…”

In another screenshot, the comment read: “you are selfish. why marry if you don’t want to be a mother just be an actress…” The rest of the comment is explicit.

In response to Anne’s Twitter post, actress Angel Locsin commented: “Ano ba yan. Hay nako grrr.”

Angel was a guest at Anne and Erwan’s recent wedding in New Zealand.

In an earlier interview during Anne’s launch as Shiseido Collagen endorser, Philstar.com asked the actress the same question about when she and Erwan plan to have kids.

Her response then was consistent with her answer to the reporter who wrote the article and other reporters during the recent Unicef event: “I love children! I really, really do. But I don’t think I’m going to have one right away. After getting married, we’d wait for maybe a year so, so we can enjoy muna each other’s company and then travel na kami lang. I have a group of friends who have kids and it really changes eh. Parang when you want to travel, ‘di na pwede ‘yung basta basta na lang aalis. Or when you book a restaurant, iba ‘pag may baby. So, we will wait for that and just travel more to all the exotic places na gusto naming puntahan.”
