James Reid reacts to Maris Racal’s ‘James Ribs’ post
MANILA, Philippines — After recently winning as Best Southeast Asia Act at the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards, James Reid made waves again on Wednesday for reacting to a picture posted by Star Magic singer-actress Maris Racal.
The photo, posted by Maris on her Twitter account, shows a restaurant bearing the name “James Ribs” beside the Photoshopped picture of the actor eating barbecued baby back ribs.
James, who seemed to have just discovered about the restaurant signage through Maris’ post, jokingly commented on the post with a crying emoji and with the statement “I’m dying,” insinuating that he is “dying” in laughter.
In another comment, James asked Maris where the restaurant is, but the actress has not yet replied.

Maris' post did not indicate where the diner is or who owns it. She captioned it “Bakiiiit.”

Although James might take the post lightly, he can sue the restaurant’s owner for using a derivative of his name and picture without consent.
Under the Philippine law, it is illegal to use a celebrity’s name or picture as a name for a business establishment without the celebrity’s permission, even if the name and picture have been altered.
Funny signs have always caught people’s attention, and sometimes, these are based on a play on celebrities’ names.
Among the funny real-life restaurant names that have circulated on social media include McDollibee, a KCF restaurant built in front of KFC; Mang Inasar that resembles Mang Inasal; Pork Barrel Adobohan and Mami Pakyaw.
A snack bar has also been photographed bearing the name Chito Merienda, which, like James Ribs, has a signage showing Parokya ni Edgar front man Chito Miranda enjoying a snack.
