Beautiful Trauma by Pink

Beautiful Trauma by Pink

There are several reasons why I like listening to Pink.  First off is she has an incredible voice whether she soars, she screams, roars or whispers.  I have a feeling she will sound great singing anything and that means rock to disco to opera, and etc.

The second is, in today’s world awashed with R&B, she remains the rocker. Female rockers are very special. Think Blondie, Pat Benatar and Patti Smyth. Pink belongs to this elite group. She may put variety in her music through uptempo pop or torchy ballads but her bottom line is always rock.

And then, she is also a very good songwriter. She has this gift for coming up with the memorable turn of phrase in her songs that makes one think, this girl gets what is real. Her latest comes from What About Us, a cut from her new album Beautiful Trauma: “What about us/ what about all the broken happy ever afters?” Ouch! broken happy ever afters, indeed.

Pink is a singer, songwriter, dancer and if you have watched any of her shows, also a daring acrobat and gymnast. She entered the music scene in the early 2000, already fully developed as an artist with a strong sense of what she wants. She began to make hits like Most Girls and There You Go, right out of her first album Can’t Take Me Home. From then on, few where the times when a Pink song was not in the hit charts.

Pink has recorded seven studio albums and sold 16 million of them, plus 47 million records. Most of these were Get The Party Started, Don’t Let Me Get Me, Just Like A Pill, Try This, I’m Not Dead, Funhouse, So What, Fuckin’ Perfect, Raise Your Glass, Blow Me One Last Kiss, Try and Just Give Me A Reason. Beautiful Trauma, out in the market only three weeks ago, is already showing a bountiful harvest.

Heartbreak is the theme of Beautiful Trauma and Pink presents her views in various styles. Most are in her trusty mid-tempo pop beat like What About Us, What Ever You Want and Revenge, which features Eminem. She rocks a bit in Where We Go and gets some electronic in for Secrets. My best bets though are I Am Here for which she puts out the gospel chorus, the acoustic You Get My Love and the ache-filled ballad, But We Lost It.

Pink’s Beautiful Trauma was the No. 1 selling album at the Billboard Top 200 list but it dropped to the third slot with the arrival of Flicker by One Direction member Niall Horan. This is a historic accomplishment. Niall is now the third member of a group to release a No. 1 selling album. He comes after Zayn and Harry Styles. This only happened previously with The Beatles and it took those guys years after the band disbanded. Let us wait and see if a fourth 1D will soon follow suit.
