Isabel honored on Walk of Fame

Fondly remembered in death, Isabel Granada (whose remains were cremated last Sunday, Nov. 12) will be honored with a star on the Walk of Fame along with 18 others on Nov. 21, 6 p.m. at Eastwood City, Quezon City.

Other posthumous honorees include Chichay, Maning Borlaza, Joe Taruc and Eddie Romero.

The other inductees are:

•Movie & Film: Regal Matriarch Lily Monteverde and Empoy Marquez;

•Television: Matteo Guidicelli, Solenn Heussaff and Kris Bernal;

•Music: Parokya ni Edgar and Jake Zyrus (who, as Charice, already has her own star);

•News & Public Affairs: Karen Davila, Anthony Taberna, Atom Araullo and Tulfo Brothers (Mon, Ben, Raffy and Erwin);

•Radio: Mely Tagasa and Joe D’Mango; and

•Theater: Freddie Santos.

Patterned after Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and put up 12 years ago, the Philippine version is a brainchild of the late Master Showman German “Kuya Germs” Moreno under the non-profit Walk of Fame organization to give recognition to the people in the Movie, TV, Radio, Theater and Music industries “who have reached the epitome of success and have greatly made a positive influence to its growth,” according to Kuya Germs’ son Federico Moreno, who now heads the foundation.

Beneficiary of the event is the Mowelfund Foundation.

Aside from Federico, the other WFF officers are: Kevin Andrew Tan, chairman of the board; Alice Eduardo, vice president; Marichu Vera-Perez Maceda, treasurer; lawyer Lito Go, corporate secretary; Your Funfarer, Public Relations Officer (PRO); and Isko Moreno, Dr. Cecilio Pedro, Joey Abacan, Dr. John Nite, and Jose Miguel Moreno, trustees.

A sad note about Kuya Germs: Many of the talents that he built up have conveniently forgotten (or have developed amnesia) after his death in January 2016. As far as we know, only Jak Roberto remembers to offer prayers on Kuya Germs’ birthday at his grave and Ken Chan who offered flowers last All Souls’ Day.
