Meet Karen Davilas clone

Jervy Li, who is better known as KaladKaren, has gained people’s attention because of her on-point impersonation of Bandila anchor Karen Davila

Becoming the latest social media sensation puts Jervy Li to a rare throne of instant popularity. This was after her video of impersonating veteran broadcast journalist Karen Davila has gone viral on social media last September.

On her studio appearance in Tonight with Boy Abunda, she shared how her life is now changing.

“Hindi ko mawari. It’s not in my figment of imagination na mangyayari ito sa buhay ko. Nakakaloka, Tito Boy.”

Li, who is better known as KaladKaren, has gained people’s attention because of her on-point impersonation of Bandila anchor Karen Davila hosting of the ABS-CBN defunct documentary program The Correspondent from the past.

A proud transgender woman, Li takes pride of the never-ending, constant support of her family even from the very beginning. As to her gender preference, it became less of a burden to her to address the community of her being an actual woman.

“It wasn’t really very difficult. Because my family, super supportive po sa akin, Tito Boy. My mom? Bibili ng underwear, ng mga make-up n’ya, laging sinasabi sa ’kin, ‘Oh anak! ‘Yung mascara mo i-order na rin natin!’”

Fortunately, she then claimed that being an achiever at school helped her a lot to get efficiently through it all.

“Because, I think, there’s no reason for them to hate me. Dahil una, I was a consistent honor student, hindi ko sila binibigyan ng sakit ng ulo, mabait akong anak, mapagmahal akong anak. So, ibig sabihin, kung may kakulangan man ako, yun ay maglaro ng basketball, yun ay ibigay ko sa tatay ko na macho ako manamit.”

In line with this, people may get to find Li spending a real good life at the top of this world. Because aside from having a supportive family and a well-established career path in the same industry as her idol Karen in media, Li is also savoring the air of pure love and happiness with her long-distance partner for five years already.

Talking about her love life, Li was very excited to pronounce, “Ang saya, Tito Boy, even though, you know, merong distance. And one thing that I’ve learned about our relationship is that to accept myself more and to believe that I also deserve to be loved for all of who I am.”

Based on the account of Li, she and her boyfriend met in Hong Kong sometime in 2012. Following their first eye-to-eye contact and bizarre conversation was an instant feeling according to her.

“I think it was love at first sight,” Li told herself.

“And then after three months… he went to the Philippines to meet my family, and to meet my friends. After three months, I went to the United Kingdom. Tumira kami sa bahay ng mom and dad n’ya. So, ipinakilala ‘ko sa buong pamilya, tito’t tita, pinsan, friends,” she detailed.

Asked whether they have plans of getting married, Li apparently cannot just hide her excitement comes the very moment she hears special bells ringing all around the corner. According to her, “That’s my life-long dream, (to get married). Sabi ko nga, e, gusto ko lang maging housewife.”

But, it is mainly by her unedited wit and sense of humor that people can’t get enough of Li’s talent. Netizens and followers might also be asking what’s next to come out following her surprising successful impersonation of Karen? She said that she is just enjoying everything at the moment. “I don’t know what’s for me. I think nobody can tell but I can make something out of this, I believe to utilize my talent, and to utilize this very rare opportunity.”

As I wished her success in making her dreams come true, Li shot back, “I will make it come true.”
