In The Mix 2017 music fest line-up announced

MMI Live continues to invite globally-acclaimed musical acts to a night of music and excitement. Released

MANILA, Philippines — MMI Live, together with Smart and PLDT as presenters, is excited to announce the second edition of “In The Mix”—a music festival featuring an eclectic roster of international acts—happening on Aug. 17, 2017 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Due to its success last year with headliners such as The 1975, Third Eye Blind, Panic! At The Disco, James Bay, Elle King, and Twin Pines, MMI Live continues to invite globally-acclaimed musical acts to a night of music and excitement.

MMI Live also confirms that this year’s musical acts include Dua Lipa, Daya, DNCE, Two Door Cinema Club, Zara Larsson and 5 Seconds of Summer. Tickets to “In The Mix 2017” will be available on April 30.

Dua Lipa is a London-raised singer/songwriter and model of Albanian descent. Her musical career began at age 14 when she started recording covers for YouTube and Soundcloud, continuing those early rap and R&B influences by tackling tracks from artists like Chance The Rapper or Mila J, all done in her own style: stripped back production and burning, buttery vocals. Behind the hit singles “Be The One,” and “Hotter Than Hell,” her current single “Blow Your Mind (Mwah),” is the singer’s first entry on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Second on the list is American singer-songwriter and Grammy winner, Daya — who also released her self-titled debut EP, Daya, in September 2015. Her hit single "Hide Away” has peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and organically caught fire online, drawing acclaim from YouTuber Tyler Oakley and celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton and landing on Spotify’s Artists To Watch 2015 Playlist.

Formed in the summer of 2015, DNCE first introduced themselves to audiences worldwide with the release of "Cake By The Ocean" which entered the US Billboard Top 100 and won “Choice Music for Party Song” at the Teen Choice Awards, also their now three times certified platinum-selling breakout smash.  Following up is the sexy, gold-selling “Toothbrush” amassed over 68 million YouTube/VEVO views with an unforgettable music video as well as achieving global consumption over 1 million.  Cementing them as one of 2016’s breakout acts, the band took home the win for “Best PUSH Artist” and “Best New Artist” at the 2016 MTV European Music Awards and “Best New Artist” at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards.  Recently, the band released their new single called “Kissing Strangers” featuring global superstar Nicki Minaj. DNCE is front man Joe Jonas, bassist & keyboardist Cole Whittle, guitarist JinJoo, and drummer Jack Lawless.

The lineup also features Irish alt-indie favorite Two Door Cinema Club, currently on tour for their third album “Gameshow”—their return after the 2010 debut “Tourist History” and follow-up “Beacon” in 2012. It was fan-driven fairy-tale stuff; three seventeen-year-old school friends from Bangor Grammar School in County Down – singer Alex Trimble, guitarist Sam Halliday and bassist Kevin Baird – form a band in 2008 inspired by the fresh mutations in post-landfill indie rock of Foals and The Maccabees, but with a succulent melodic twist all their own. To date, the band won awards from Choice Music Prize as Album of the Year, and Triple J Hottest 100 for “Undercover Martyn” in 2010, in Triple J Hottest 100 in 2012 and 2013 under their cap.

The next big act in the line-up also include 19-year-old Swedish singer songwriter Zara Larsson who gained national fame for winning the 2008 season of the Swedish version of Got Talent. She issued her debut EP, “Introducing,” with the hit single "Uncover" in 2013. The song was certified triple-platinum in her Sweden, and after another EP, “Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself;” Larsson began work on her official debut. Three additional singles reached the Swedish Top Ten: "She's Not Me," "Carry You Home" and "Rooftop." Other singles include "Lush Life" which reached the Top 10 across Europe, and "Never Forget You" (featuring MNEK) hit the Top Ten in Great Britain and went GOLD in the United States.

Returning to Manila from their “sold-out concert” last year is the Australian rock band 5 Seconds of Summer. Formed in 2011, the band features Luke Hemmings (lead vocals/guitar), Michael Clifford (guitar/vocals), Calum Hood (bass/vocals), and Ashton Irwin (drums/vocals). Their self- titled debut album, promptly hit number one in the charts around the globe. In 2014, the band wrapped up a world tour and released the live concert album LIVESOS, which featured a cover of the Romantics' 1980 hit "What I Like About You." In 2015, the boys delivered their second full-length studio album, “Sounds Good Feels Good,” including collaborations with Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden, All-Time Low's Alex Gaskarth, the Monsters & the Strangerz, and others. Included were the songs "Permanent Vacation, the lead single "She's Kinda Hot" and "Jet Black Heart."

Expect a night full of dance and alternative music with these 6 internationally acclaimed acts in ONE spectacular event.
