Arci Muñoz closes door on reconciliation with ex

Arci Munoz and Gerald Anderson star in "Can We Still Be Friends?"  Philstar.com/File

MANILA, Philippines — Unlike before, when her doors remained open for a reconciliation with ex-boyfriend Badi del Rosario, Arci Munoz is  sure she and her former love can no longer rekindle their four-year-romance.

“I’ve moved on. Everything has been said and done. I can see that he’s happy,” she said at the press con of Star Cinema’s "Can We Still Be Friends," her second movie with Gerald Anderson (the first was last year’s hit movie "Always Be My Maybe").

No, she has not asked around how her ex is doing. It is just that somehow, she knows he is happy where he is right now.

Arci admitted it was she who courted Badi, the way she did with all her exes. So, it is possible for her to bring food to Gerald’s set as her way of showing how much she cares, if he does not have Bea Alonzo for his girlfriend.

But since her leading man (their team-up is popularly called "Team Lablab") is committed to someone else, Arci  will not rock the boat.

The actress wants peace of mind, the kind that she said could come from being able to greet your ex with a sincere hello should you bump into him.

“You don’t have to be friends. You can just be casual with each other, and be able to say hi to him. If you don’t, he might think you’ve become bitter (about the break-up).”

Arci is letting experience be her best teacher. After  her ex asked her if they can still be friends, Arci decided to reject the offer.

“I still loved him. So, it’s best that we don’t see each other anymore at all,” she recalled.

Yes, she could be friends with an ex, but it will take time. The wounds must heal. The painful memories must slowly fade away.

Arci admitted "Can We Still  Be Friends" (to open nationwide on Wednesday, June 14) is her story.  She can relate to Sam, the idealistic achiever whose character she portrays.

Suddenly, the past is back with a vengeance.  Except that the relationship lasted for eight years in Sam and Digs’ (Gerald’s character) case.

Gerald, Arci, their fellow millennial co-stars, and director Prime  Cruz (who helms the indie hit "Sleepless"), hope moviegoers will relate to it as well.
