Bollywood star wears Filipino designers in Cannes red carpet

CANNES — The 70th Cannes Film Festival opened last weekend with a grand red carpet welcome for film stars all over the world.
One of “the biggest, most dramatic looks” on the red carpet, according to fashion magazine Vogue, is Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s blue princess gown by Dubai-based Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco.
Aastha Sharma, Bachchan’s stylist, told Vogue India in an interview that he chose Cinco’s piece when he saw the designer’s collection last March. According to him, when Aishwarya tried the gown on, “it was a perfect match.”
The gown is so big, it has its own room, said Sharma.

Besides Aishwarya, Michael has dressed up other A-list celebrities like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera, Nicole Scherzinger, Ellie Goulding, Fergie Ferguson, Carrie Underwood, Dita Von Teese, Chris Brown, Tyra Banks, Brandy, Ashanti, Naomi Campbell and most recently, Nicki Minaj at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards.
At her third day at Cannes this year, Aishwarya wore the creation of another celebrity Filipino designer, Mark Bumgarner, who famously collaborated with Filipino actress Heart Evangelista for a collection.
