Daniel Matsunaga on Erich Gonzales: 'A beautiful heart'

MANILA, Philippines — The last time former lovers Daniel Matsunaga and Erich Gonzales, then fondly called "Danrich," talked was during their US tour, Daniel told reporters in an interview last week.

Nowadays, Daniel said he does not talk to his ex anymore. His movie with Erich is also no longer pushing through.

"If it didn't work, unfortunately, s'yempre it's sad, ‘di ba? Sad because a lot of our fans, they're expecting a lot of things from us. I have to apologize to them because you know, everything that we do, it's really for them. It didn't work unfortunately, so just move on. I think friendship is really important," he explained in a group interview following his launch as first male celebrity ambassador for Avon Philippines' intimate apparel.

He vowed, however, not to walk away when he sees Erich one of these days. He said he will even greet her with a smile because he has moved on.

"I have a huge respect for Erich. She's a beautiful woman and a beautiful heart. I have nothing wrong to say about her. I have a huge respect for her family. If I see her, I'm going to be the same Daniel since I left Brazil when I was 15 years old until I die."

What is his advice for those who also want to move on from a breakup?

"To move on, really, the best way is to spend time with your loved ones. Especially your family. I'm really close to my family. They were there for me the whole time… You need your real friends and you need to find stuff to do."
