Triathlon festival in Santa Fe today

CEBU, Philippines - Some of Cebu’s seasoned and upcoming triathletes, runners, cyclists and swimmers return to Bantayan Island for a triathlon festival billed as 'Tri-X' at the Sante Fe Beach Club today.

The circuit race for bike covering a total of 60 kilometers will kick off at 5:30 a.m. After the pedal-pushing comes the oceanman, a two-kilometer open water swim competition.

It will be followed by the triathlon at 10 a.m. The participants may use either a road bike or a mountainbike.

Those who will be using road or tri bikes will be dealing with a 2K swim, 60K bike and 15K run, while those with mountainbikes will fight it out in a 1K swim, 30K bike and 7.5K run.

There will also be relay events for both road and mountainbike triathlon.

The multi-sport event will wind up with a sunset run featuring 5K and 10K categories.

Cash prizes, trophies and medals wil be given away to the top performers. (FREEMAN)
