MANILA, Philippines -  Moving forward, infrastructure, connecting people, linking a nation, powering progress is what the 2017 Philippines Yearbook is all about. Founded in 1936 by publisher Vernon Go’s grandfather, Dr. Jimmy Go Puan Seng, as an offshoot of The Fookien Times, the new edition was launched at Samba, the Peruvian restaurant of Shang at the Fort on January 12th.

?Yearbook chairman and CEO Grace Glory Go? played host herself with a short program calling on stage her son, Vernon Go, and guest editor of the 2017 edition, STAR columnist, Architect Paulo Alcazaren. But first of all, she invited her favorite Pastor Joby Soriano of CCF Alabang to say the opening prayer.

All the guests, from company chairmen, CEOs, presidents, vice-presidents to the various companies marketing team were happily pleased with the new venue, Samba, with its large open veranda and big ceiling fans. Shang at the Fort’s GM John Rice, EAM F&B director Simon Côte and assistant F&B, Jonathan Bailes did a fabulous job re the buffet. Of special note was the seafood paella and the beef, chicken, shrimp and mushroom skewers, which so many guests patiently lined up to be served.. freshly grilled on the spot by the chef!  Of course, the Yearbook party is never complete without Ralph’s Wine and Spirits! Thanks too to Philippine Wine Merchants and Debbie Namalata of San Miguel Corporation for offering to add San Mig Light to the highly enjoyable evening.
