MANILA, Philippines — The annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) kicked off the holiday season on Friday with its Parade of Stars.

The MMFF parade assembled near the Manila City Hall then made its way to Plaza Miranda in front of Quiapo Church instead of the usual route starting from the Mall of Asia to Quirino Grandstand.

The parade showcased pompous floats from the eight movie entries which went around the City of Manila.

Here are some photos of the event:

Esteemed comedienne Eugene Domingo will once again star in the second installment of the multi-awarded comedy franchise, "Babae Sa Septic Tank 2: #ForeverIsNotEnough".

"Eat Bulaga" host Paolo Ballesteros will star in "Die Beautiful", a movie following the story of a transgender woman who suddenly dies while being crowned in a beauty pageant.

Kapuso star Rhian Ramos and Enzo Marcos will star in a live-action animated love story "Saving Sally".

Superstar Nora Aunor and veteran actor Ricky Davao will star in "Kabisera" which follows a family as they deal with crimes and extrajudicial killings.

Irma Adlawan will star as Kapitana in "Oro" as she tries to defend her mining community from armed groups threatening them.

"Sunday Beauty Queen" will be the first documentary to be featured in the MMFF.

Kapamilya stars Julia Barretto, Joshua Garcia and Ronnie Alonte will star in the teen romance "Vince, Kath, and James".

Erik Matti's "Seklusyon" will deal with devils and deacons.

The MMFF had caused some stirs inside the industry following the committee's choice of movies.

For the first time in 12 years, followers of the MMFF will not see the movie of Vic Sotto and another box office top grosser Vice Ganda.

Another MMFF mainstay "Mano Po" series by Regal Entertainment also failed to qualify in the film fest.

The film festival will begin to hit the big screens this Christmas day.
