Regine Velasquez-Alcasid joins schoolteachers in the chorus part of her songs

DAVAO CITY PLDT-Smart Foundation’s Gabay Guro recently organized the biggest tribute to teachers in Mindanao dubbed as Teachers Fest Davao 2016 held at SM Lanang Premier’s SMX Convention Center.

The foundation treated  public and private schoolteachers to a whole day of entertainment and raffle draws that gave away cash from P5,000 to P100,000, among other prizes, to lucky attendees.

Gabay Guro gives teachers tribute events, scholarships, livelihood programs, training, broadband and computerization, housing and educational facilities. The foundation has over 1,000 scholars nationwide with eight training programs: Teacher’s Treasure Chest; English Proficiency; Computer Literacy; Emotional Intelligence; Teacher’s Armor; Leadership Training; IT Sustainability and Literacy; and Unleashing Creativity in Teaching.

Teachers from Davao City, Davao Del Sur, Davao Del Norte, Compostela Valley, Samal Island, Pineapple City, Tagum City and other parts of Mindanao were entertained by Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Pops Fernandez, Chad Borja, YouTube sensations Medyo Maldito, Snake Princess and Juliet, Cabantian National High School’s Kabilin Mindanaw Dance Group, Songspell Chorale, Tawag ng Tanghalan finalist Maricel Callo, Tetay and Ayeen, Aicelle Santos, Wency Cornejo and Christian Bautista.

Also present were PLDT VP and Home Marketing director Gary Dujali, Gabay Guro chairman/PLDT Controller and Smart and Sun CFO Chaye Cabal-Revilla, Smart Regional Development for Mindanao head Arnold Dellosa, DepEd Regional director Alberto Escobarte, Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles Jr. and wife Marga and Davao City councilor Pilar Caneda-Braga.
