Showbiz personalities pay tribute to Dick Israel
MANILA, Philippines – Celebrities on Wednesday posted messages to commemorate the legacy of veteran actor Dick Israel who passed away on Tuesday evening.
Actors’ Guild of the Philippines President Rez Cortez said their organization will hold tribute for their colleague.
“Sabay kami halos nagsimula sa pelikula,” he recalled in a televised interview.
Likewise, actress Nadia Montenegro, who considers Dick as her father, mourned her colleague’s death. Nadia was among the celebrity members of Damay Kamay Foundation, who gave aid to Dick when his house went ablaze last July.
Damay Kamay Foundation is a charity group assisting medical emergencies of showbiz personalities. It is also ran by Vivian Velez, Bianca Lapus and Peter Serrano.
Dick, whose real name is "Ricardo Vizcarra Michaca," was known for his villain and sidekick roles. He was 68.
In 1986, the veteran actor was awarded Best Supporting Actor in 1988 for his role in "Patrolman" at the Metro Manila Film Festival, and in 1995 for his portrayal in "Kanto Boy 2: Anak ni Totoy Guapo" at the FAMAS Awards.
