WATCH: Kanye West calls out Taylor Swift at VMAs
MANILA, Philippines — Kanye West gave a rambling speech on Monday morning (Manila time) at the MTV Video Music Awards and called out Taylor Swift anew amid the controversy over his "Famous" single.
On the stage to introduce his new video "Life of Pablo," West again defended his move to drop Swift's name in the lyrics of "Famous" saying he asked the pop superstar's permission before he did.

The recording artist also claimed to be among history's greats alongside Harry S. Truman, Henry Ford, Howard Hughes, Walt Disney and Steve Jobs.
My friend [J. Sakiya Sandifer] told me there’s three keys to keeping people impoverished: taking away their esteem, their resources, and their role models. My role models are artists, merchants. There’s less than 10 I can name in history: Truman, Ford, Hughes, Disney, Jobs, West.
