The grand prize winner and two runners-up in the #MeetMyNanay contest of Make Your Nanay Proud (MYNP) Foundation, Inc. were announced on Aug. 9 in the awarding ceremonies and photo exhibit held at the Mega Atrium of SM Megamall. This columnist is the founding chair of MYNP. The photo contest and exhibit of mothers with their children is a partnership between MYNP and Great Image.

The grand winners were Lina Mortega and Nanay Emilia for their moving photo of the four smiling siblings on the feet of their grand matriarch, all of 93 years old. The second place went to Godfrey Gonzales and Nanay Gloria for a touching photo of the son with his mother on graduation day. The third place was awarded to Mark Latiza Garcia and Nanay Lina for the heartwarming photo of two brothers flanking their beaming mother in the middle.

The #MeetMyNanay Top 10 finalists were Joel Richmond Lauraya and Nanay Amy; JhoJoanna Odicta and Nanay Tonette; Lina Mortega and Nanay Emilia; Ian Lester Padilla and Nanay Leonisa; Mary Gold Ang-Hernandez with her siblings and Nanay Lourdes; Godfrey Gonzales and Nanay Gloria; Jacque Gonzaga and Nanay Lucy; Mark Latiza Garcia and Nanay Lina; Cesar Elepano and Nanay Ester; and Adrian Barundia and Nanay Azon.

Cocoi Belgar, assistant vice president for Business and Brand Development of Great Image, said the contest exceeded all expectations. There were more than 1,000 photographs submitted for the #MeetMyNanay contest. Each entry was sent with an accompanying donation of P20 for the projects of Make Your Nanay Proud Foundation.

On hand to award the winners were Mr. Bob and Mrs. Toots Palomo. They turned over to Bemz Benedito and Gasper Gozo of MYNP two checks, the first representing the amount raised for the fund-raising, and the other as a check donated by Great Image itself.

Also present at the event was Annie Garcia, president of SM Supermalls, as well as other officers of the shopping mall.

Sitti, Michael Pangilinan and Brian Termulo performed gratis et amore for the love of MYNP and in homage to their own mothers. Drew Arellano hosted the event.

The event was also sponsored by Tony Molly, ChemWorld, Cinema One, Lifestyle Network, Manila Bulletin and The Philippine STAR.
