Celso de Guzman Caparas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Cloie Skarne, Gabby Concepcion’s daughter with former actress and ex-wife Jenny Syquia, is one of the 86 aspirants in the search of 2016 Miss Universe Sweden.

The list will be winnowed down to 12 finalists who will battle it out during the coronation night on Aug. 28 at the Café Opera in Stockholm.

If ever Cloie wins, let’s keep our fingers crossed, she will be up against Miss Universe Philippines Maria Mika Maxine Medina with finals to be staged reportedly at the Mall of Asia Arena on Jan. 30, 2017.  Reigning Miss Universe Sweden is Paulina Bodd.

Stockholm-based Cloie, who just turned 22 last Aug. 17, adopted her stepfather’s surname when Jenny married Filip Skarne in 1997. She’s the half-sister of KC Concepcion and Garie Concepcion, Gabby’s daughters with Sharon Cuneta and Grace Ibuna, respectively.

Cloie is currently Student Council finance manager and in September, she’s an incoming Student Council president at the Stockholm University. She studied languages and entrepreneurship at the same school. Cloie used to work as a private English teacher for children, an events host and the face of various clothing lines and consumer products on the side. An enterprising individual and at the same time a philanthropist, Cloie founded and runs a company which donates 10 percent of its earnings to charity. She loves to paint and cook which Cloie enjoys since she was still a kid. Cloie is also an ambassador of Operation Smile Philippines.

As of this writing, Cloie is on the 12th spot with the most number of votes on the pageant’s official website. You may vote for her by logging on www.missuniverse-sweden.com.
