The Calayans bring their brand of dermatology to Cebu

A star-studded mini-concert marked the formal opening of Drs. Manny and Pie Calayan Clinic held at the Mountain Wing Atrium of SM Seaside Mall in Cebu. Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales, Pilar Pilapil, Jackielou Blanco, Princess Punzalan, Plinky Recto, Nyoy Volante, John Nite, Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix and Annabelle Rama came to congratulate the couple and to perform to the delight of the mall goers.  

I did an interview with Drs. Manny and Pie as part of the launch of the clinic. 

A ribbon-cutting capped the event with Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale as guest of honor. Also present were the Chiongbian family, Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña and local newspaper owner Nelia Garcia Neri, among others.

Drs. Manny and Pie must have won the hearts of the Cebuanos. A day after the clinic opened, (located at the third floor of the SM Seaside Mall) people swarmed to the clinic. It was practically an SRO crowd where people had to wait in line to get their beauty treatment. The Cebu branch is patterned after the clinic in Quezon City — homey and relaxed — and has state-of-the-art equipment. It is manned by good-looking and attentive staff trained to best care for people.

Drs. Manny and Pie have decided to bring their breakthrough brand of wholistic dermatology and cosmetic surgery to Cebu, known as a medical tourism destination. For their wholistic approach, Dr. Pie examines the root cause of the patient’s dilemma by providing him/her the most appropriate treatment for his/her condition. On the other hand, Dr. Manny advises patients on how they can maintain their post-surgical concerns for sustainable results.

Drs. Manny and Pie envision to provide their patients with personalized care, encouraging them to examine their entire sense of well-being in order to look good on the outside and feel awesome on the inside, thus, unraveling their true beauty.

Along with the expansion efforts to have a presence in the Visayas region, the couple changed the long-established Calayan Surgicentre brand name to Manny and Pie Calayan Clinic.

BIR head promotes culture of honesty

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) marked its 112th anniversary last Aug. 1. Tasked with the mandate by Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to stop corruption in the agency, BIR commissioner lawyer Caesar “Billy” Dulay is in the works of fulfilling the responsibility assigned to him. He is personally asking all taxpayers including business organizations and local chambers to sign the Pledge of Support for a Genuine Tax Reform as a commitment in promoting a culture of honesty and integrity in paying the right taxes.

“Tax Whiz” Mon Abrea, one of the Top 20 finalists for the 2016 JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) of the World, is committed to help BIR commissioner Dulay in pushing for tax administration reform. He hopes through this recognition, the whole world would know about our tax advocacy to promote a culture of honesty and integrity. There will be an online public voting starting this month wherein the results will be one of the criteria in determining the Final 10 TOYP honorees.
